| The S. Velasquez Merit Scholarship Fund was established to recognize, assist and motivate Hispanic/Latino students with high academic achievement, involvement in extra curricular activities, and demonstrated leadership ability. This scholarship is meant to serve as an incentive to promote academic excellence and to encourage Hispanic/Latino students to graduate from CCC and ultimately transfer to a four-year college or university. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs while enrolled at Richard J. Daley College. This scholarship is ONLY available durint the Fall semester.

Eligibility Criteria
• Must have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino descent.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and in good standing.
• High school or GED graduate.
• Must be a resident of the City of Chicago and eligible for in-district tuition rates.
• Must have completed at least one semester of college (minimum 12 credit hours, excluding remedial coursework) prior to making application.
• Must be a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) pursuing an associate degree.
