| The Local 1600, Soglin/McBride Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance to students with excellent academic records and active community/school involvement. The fund was originally established in memory of Albert Soglin who was a fulltime faculty member in the math department at HWC. Later the Thomas McBride scholarship was created in memory of Thomas McBride who was a HWC student.

Eligibility Criteria • Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours of college level courses (at Harold Washington College) and be currently enrolled in 9 or more hours (unless graduating that semester). Students who have already graduated are not eligible to apply.
• Previous Albert Soglin/Thomas J. McBride Memorial Scholarship winners ARE NOT eligible to apply.
• Any student with a minimum graduation GPA of 3.25, not including the current semester. Obtain a printout of academic history and current registration from the Registrat's Office and submit with the application. It is the student's responsibility to see that the submitted records are accurate.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Two letters of recommendation required from Harold Washington College faculty members. A third (optional) recommendation may be supplied from any source (including community services).
• Candidates must participate in an interview.
• Applications missing any of the above requirements will not be considered. |
