The purpose of the Illinois Education Foundation Scholarship is to support deserving students pursuing higher education who could not otherwise afford it. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs.

|
The purpose of the DOMM Book Scholarship is to assist deserving students pursuing any associates degree or vocational certificate. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray the cost of books (text books, reference books or workbooks) as outlined in the syllabus of a City Colleges course in which an applicant is enrolled.

| 140 Marilyn Casey Scholarship Fund
|
Established in February 2005, Marilyn Casey a former nurse purposed this fund to assist students who are pursing a degree in a health related field at an Illinois community college. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs while enrolled at City Colleges.

| 142 Seabury Scholarship Fund
|
The Seabury Foundation is a family foundation that funds projects in the areas of education, social services, health, conservation, and the arts in the city of Chicago. Particular emphasis is placed on programs that nurture strong family relationships, promote individual self-sufficiency, and encourage civic participation. The foundation seeks to improve access of all persons to the education, services, and resources that will support them in living secure, productive, and creative lives. The Seabury Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 to assist mature students continue their education.

| 146 ShoreBank Scholarship
|
ShoreBank provides scholarships for students attending the City Colleges of Chicago to help pay for a quality education and to help change the world. In 2000, ShoreBank announced an $8 million/30-year commitment to provide scholarships for young people and lifelong learners in the communities it serves. Since then, ShoreBank has invested more than $500,000 in scholarships, providing more than 132 scholarships to 71 students.

| 147 Illinois Health Improvement Association Scholarship
|
The Illinois Health Improvement Association Scholarship, which is funded each year by a grant from the Illinois Community College System Foundation, provides financial assistance to deserving students enrolled in healthcare programs that provide direct medical care to individual patients. Scholarship monies may be applied toward tuition, fees, books, study guides or other expenses directly related to the heath field curricula while enrolled at the City Colleges of Chicago.

|
The Aspire a Mas Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by the cooperative efforts of Richard J. Daley College and the CompuCredit Corporation of Atlanta GA. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to deserving Hispanic/Latino students. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs while enrolled at Daley College or the Arturo Velasquez West Side Technical Institute.

|
The Daley College Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance for deserving students based upon scholastic merit (exclusive of financial need) or based upon financial need. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs (tuition, fees, or books) while enrolled at Richard J. Daley College or the Arturo Velasquez West Side Technical Institute (AVWSTI). In rare cases, scholarship funds may be used as matching funds (maximum $250 one-time scholarship) to pay a prior balance at Daley College or AVWSTI.

| 151 Kathryn Lenihan Book Scholarship Fund
|
The Kathryn Lenihan Scholarship Fund was named to honor Kathryn Lenihan, former Dean of Students at Richard J. Daley College. The purpose of the fund is to provide book scholarships for students enrolled at Richard J. Daley College or at West Side Technical Institute (WSTI). Scholarship monies are to be used to defray the cost of books (text books, reference books or workbooks) as outlined in the syllabus of a course in which the applicant is enrolled.

| 152 S. Velasquez Merit Scholarship Fund
|
The S. Velasquez Merit Scholarship Fund was established to recognize, assist and motivate Hispanic/Latino students with high academic achievement, involvement in extra curricular activities, and demonstrated leadership ability. This scholarship is meant to serve as an incentive to promote academic excellence and to encourage Hispanic/Latino students to graduate from CCC and ultimately transfer to a four-year college or university. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs while enrolled at Richard J. Daley College. This scholarship is ONLY available durint the Fall semester.

| 153 Arturo Velasquez West Side Tech Scholarship Fund
|
The West Side Technical Institute (WSTI) Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships for deserving students who are in need of financial assistance to complete their studies at WSTI. Scholarship awards are generally allocated as partial tuition rather than full scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded primarily to existing students from the Fall semester, to be applied towards Spring semester tuition or, in rare cases, as matching funds (maximum $250 one-time scholarship) to pay a prior balance at WSTI.

| 154 William E. McKillop Scholarship Fund
|
In February 1987, William E. McKillop, a retired Daley College librarian, established this scholarship to assist Aides serving in the Audio Visual and Learning Resource areas. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs (tuition, fees, or books) while enrolled at Richard J. Daley College.

The Oscar E. Shabat Wright College Scholarship Fund was established to honor Dr. Oscar E. Shabat, founding chancellor of the City Colleges of Chicago and former professor of Social Sciences at Wright College. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance for deserving students based upon scholastic merit (exclusive of financial need) or based upon financial need. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs (tuition, fees, or books) while enrolled at Wilbur Wright College or Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center (HPVEC). In rare cases, scholarship funds may be used as matching funds (maximum $250 one-time scholarship) to pay a prior balance at Wright College or HPVEC.

The Kennedy-King College Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance for deserving students based upon scholastic merit (exclusive of financial need) and/or based upon financial need. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs (tuition, fees, or books) while enrolled at Kennedy-King College, Dawson Technical Institute, or Washburne Culinary Institute. In rare cases, scholarship funds may be used as matching funds (maximum $250 one-time scholarship) to pay a prior balance at Kennedy-King College, Dawson Tech, or Washburne. Presidential scholarships may also be awarded to Kennedy-King College honor students (full-time students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher) transferring to senior institutions (monies paid directly to the senior institution).

In rare cases, scholarship funds may be used as matching funds (maximum $250 one-time scholarship) to pay a prior balance at Truman College.

The Harold Washington College Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance for deserving students based upon scholastic merit (exclusive of financial need) and/or based upon financial need. Scholarship monies are to be used to defray educational costs (tuition, fees, books, transportation, or other critical necessities) while enrolled at Harold Washington College. This scholarship may be renewable depending on eligibility criteria and funding availability. In rare cases, scholarship funds may be used as matching funds (Harold Washington College Scholarship Fund would match a student’s payment up to a maximum of a $250 one-time scholarship) to help pay a prior balance at Harold Washington College.

The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) is a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of African American students in the areas of public service. The mission of the NFBPA/Chicago Chapter is to promote, strengthen, and expand the roles of African Americans in all aspects of public service by assisting in the development of effective public administrators. The goal of the NFBPA Scholarship is to promote and support the educational pursuits of African American students interested in pursuing careers in the area of public administration.

| 164 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
|
Established through the will of Jack Kent Cooke in 2000, The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is a private, independent foundation. Mr. Cooke believed education was a lifelong pursuit. Thus, the purpose of The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program is to award approximately 50 scholarships each year to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer to four-year institutions. Each award will cover a portion of educational expenses, including tuition, living expense, required fees, and books for the final two to three years of the baccalaureate degree. Every Scholarship varies, depending on the cost of attendance and other scholarships or grants received.

ShoreBank has made an $8,000,000/ 30-year scholarship commitment to provide an opportunity
for residents in our communities in the Chicagoland area to be full participants in tomorrow’s
economy. Dixie Kitchen is a renowned restaurant on Chicago’s South Side, providing delicious
Southern cuisine at Dixie Kitchen locations and Caribbean fare at Calypso. Paul Andreson,

| 169 Florence Ballenger Scholarships
|
Florence Coles Ballenger, a former faculty member at Kennedy King College, grew up in Decatur, Illinois. The 1925 alumna of Eastern Illinois State Teachers College (now Eastern Illinois University) always felt that education was the key to everything. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University, she taught in Oak Park, Chicago’s Wilson Junior College (now Kennedy King College) and St. Petersburg (Florida College) retiring at age 70. However, she continued to volunteer as an English tutor.
The Florence Ballenger Scholarship offers financial need based and scholastic merit based scholarships. The scholarship provides financial support to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to civic service. The financial need based scholarship is credited to a balance in the student’s account resulting from tuition charges, fees or the cost of books and supplies, after all federal and state awards have been applied. The scholarship is awarded annually and covers two (2) academic semesters provided academic standards are maintained and there is a financial need. The scholastic merit based scholarship rewards students for achieving academic excellence.

Scholarships will be awarded primarily to existing students to be applied towards current or future tuition or, in rare cases, as matching funds (maximum $250 one-time scholarship) to pay a prior balance at HPVEC.

| 171 Local 1600, Soglin/McBride Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Local 1600, Soglin/McBride Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance to students with excellent academic records and active community/school involvement. The fund was originally established in memory of Albert Soglin who was a fulltime faculty member in the math department at HWC. Later the Thomas McBride scholarship was created in memory of Thomas McBride who was a HWC student.
